“The Veil”

The spectacular Cliffs of Moher are in County Clare, Ireland, and are part of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. This was an amazing day on my last journey there in 2018. Mists descended while our boat toured the base of Moher. The cliffs disappeard behind the misty veil. The water was otherworldly quiet. Often, you cannot get so close, because the sea is wild. We were able to get only yards away from the lone stack, that broke off from the cliffs probably during the ice age (must check my facts on the “when”- next post). A pack of strangers, “civilians” and two members of the Irish archaeological society, were all huddled about in the cold, early-morning darkness awaiting dawn, hoping for sun.
